David Firestein

David Firestein, also known as David J. Firestein, is a native of Austin, Texas. He is currently serving as a senior advisor at the U.S Advisory Commission on Public diplomacy with wide knowledge and experience in diplomatic and international affairs. With a bachelor’s degree in international relationships from Georgetown University and a master’s from the University of Texas in public affairs and Asian studies, I initially served as a special assistant to the Mandarin Branch Chief in 1993. Being an elected member of the Board of Governors of the American Foreign Service Association, he is also a professor at the University of Texas, teaching international relations of the US with Russia and China. Being a prolific writer, Firestein’s books "Pacific Relations" and "Here and There" were the best sellers in China, and his articles, "The Honky Tonky Gap: Country Music, Red State Identity and elections 2004", were considered as semi contribution to the overseas relationship that the US had. Being fluent in Mandarin, Chinese and Russian, he has served as an interpreter for many US Cabinet Official. And has received the prestigious "Secretary of State’s Award for Public Outreach” award in 2006 for his innovative and untiring initiative outreach to the US and other nations.
